Waterloo Region G&S Celebrates 40 YEARS SINGING!

In 2015, the Society celebrates 40 Years of community theatre. This milestone was commemorated with a 40th Anniversary Topsy-Turvy Show on April 19th. Two performances celebrated the founders Raymond Daniels, Dr. Walter Kemp, Graeme Allwood, John Kerr and Brant Smith, the Society's accomplishments and the numerous productions of operettas written by the famous duo of W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan. The celebration brought back several former leading cast members along with the Gilvan Singers and alumni to showcase the G&S canon.

An appreciative audience set sail with Captain Corcoran, the crew, Sir Joseph Porter and his sisters, cousins and aunts on the nights of May 7th, May 8th and May 9th for a youth production of an abridged version of HMS Pinafore at Elora Public School starring grade 7 and 8 students.

The annual Christmas concert by the Gilvan Singers on November 29th will have a unique G&S Twist. And this summer a few Flash Mob style entertainments are in the works.

The year of celebrations was launched on October 26th, 2014 at the Dunfield Theatre Cambridge with two performances of The Magic of Gilbert and Sullivan in partnership with Drayton Entertainment and the Cambridge Symphony under the baton of conductor Sabatino Vacca. Drayton Entertainment will be honouring the local G&S Society's 40th Anniversary with a full-scale production of the Pirates of Penzance at the St. Jacob's Country Playhouse, running this fall from October 7~25, 2015.
